ABOUT THE PROJECT

The main aim of the IP „Innovation, New Ventures and Entrepreneurship in Social work Teaching" (INVEST) project is to design and implement new module of entrepreneurship competence in social work field (theoretical courses, practical tasks, methodology) on European level by applying advanced interdisciplinary teaching and communication methods.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

• Through innovative interdisciplinary study methods to develop students' entrepreneurship competence in social work field.
• To provide students with innovative social work methods aimed at enhancing social cohesion and social welfare.
• To develop analytical, management, negotiation, etc. skills which would broaden students‘ ability to identify and use community, agency and personal resources
• To create a network of European social work higher educations in an electronic environment in order to enhance intercultural dialog in the field of entrepreneurship and increase social work studies' quality
• To improve the connection of social work practice experience and theoretical knowledge through intensive interdisciplinary teaching model
 
During the third stage of the project the content and methodology of the IP was further developed and refined.

Violeta Gevorgianiene Violeta Gevorgianiene
Violeta Gevorgianiene is an associate professor and researcher at Social work department, Faculty of Philosophy, Vilnius University. She studied educology and social work. Specializes in rehabilitation of disabled, sociocultural identity, community work. She is the member of Experts' Committee at the Ministry of Science and Education for integration of disabled children. Participated in many international projects.

Pieter Lievens Pieter Lievens
Pieter Lievens is an associate professor and researcher at the Social Work department of Kempen University College in Belgium. He is educated as a sociologist and specialized in European Social Policy Analysis. He has done research in the fields of: women in vulnerable labor positions, participation of low class people in Community Based Organisations, satisfaction among users of labor counseling services and in elderly care. He is a consultant for municipalities on local social policy planning. He has expertise in the design of e-learning environments, he coordinates an IP about the methodology of Active Learning and is involved in many international projects.

Karen Lavrijsen Karen Lavrijsen
Karen Lavrijsen is an associate professor at the Social Work department of Kempen University College in Belgium. She is educated as an occupational and organisational psychologist and specialized in competence management. She teaches a course in general psychology and groupdynamics. She also does research at the education department of Kempen University on professionalism in childcarejobs in Flanders. Lifelong learning and development, in a creative way, are the keywords of her interests and work.

Liina Käär Liina Käär
She works as a project manager at Pärnu College, University of Tartu. She has graduated the same College in 2002 and her speciality was Social Work and Administration.
Now she is studying Sociology (MA) at Tartu University. She also works as a lecturer at Pärnu College. Her topics are Sociology and Voluntary Work in Social work. Liina also works in Tõstamaa Manor where she manages local museum and community projects.

Gabriele Franger - Huhle Gabriele Franger - Huhle
Gaby Franger is a vice-dean at the faculty of Social Work and Health of the university of applied sciences Coburg in Germany. She studied History, German, Sociology and Politics and parallel to field research projects pedagogic (Diplom). PHD (Dr. phil) about intercultural-adults-education. She teaches perspectives of human rights based social work, intercultural and international social work and community development.

Helena Järvi Helena Järvi
Helena Järvi works as lecturer and international coordinator at SeAMK /School of Health Care and Social Work. She graduated from the University of Tampere as a Master of Social Sciences with a specialization in social work. She has worked in municipal social work offices, hospitals and family guidance clinic as a social worker and as an instructor of family day care in Finland, and also in international development tasks. At SeAMK she has worked permanently as a lecturer since 1997 and as an international coordinator since 2002. Her teaching fields are social work and intercultural issues.

Sinikka Volanto Sinikka Volanto
Sinikka Volanto is a lecture of social policy at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Finland. She has graduated as a master of political science in University of Turku. She has long experience of management of social services in public sector. In Seinäjoki UAS she has worked since 2000 as a teacher and as continuing education manager. Specialities as a teacher she has organization of social services, management, entrepreneurship and evaluation on the social field.

Silvia Fargion Silvia Fargion
Silvia Fargion is Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. She holds a PhD in Social Work from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Edinburgh (2001), a Degree in Psychology from the University of Padua (1985) and a Diploma in Social Work from the Milan Social Work School (1977), where she also lectured between 1983-1996.
Her research interests include social workers' professional cultures and social welfare organizations. She has also developed substantial experience as a professional social worker in the area of young people and families, and as a consultant to public and private social service units. Her work has appeared in The British Journal of Social Work (2003), The Journal of Social Work (2006), Social Work & Society (2007) and International Social Work (2008), as well as in many Italian outlets. Her last book Il servizio sociale storia temi e dibattiti (Social work, history themes and debates) was published by Laterza (Bari) in 2009.

Kristiina Järvi Kristiina Järvi
Kristiina Järvi works as a lecturer at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Finland/ School of Health Care and Social Work. She has graduated from the University of Jyväskylä as a master of Social Sciences.  She has worked in family guidance clinic as a social worker and as a teacher at the University of Jyväskylä. At Seinäjoki UAS she has worked permanently as a lecturer since 1997.  Her specialties as a teacher are social work and special education.

Marja-Liisa Saariaho Marja-Liisa Saariaho
Marja-Liisa Saariaho is a lecturer at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences/School of Health Care and Social Work. She graduated from the University of Tampere as a Master of Social Sciences with a specialization in social work. She has worked as a social worker in guidance centre for mentally disabled clients, in hospital and in family guidance clinic. At Seinäjoki UAS she has worked permanently as a lecturer since 2003. Her teaching fields are social work and especially social work with mentally disabled persons and rehabilitative social work.
