Del is interpreted as “the Leaders with One Step Ahead”. Del Foundation had played its roles in society long before Toba Sejahtera, a company that later made Del Foundation as its core CSR, was established. Initially, Del Foundation was established to give access for highly achieved students in remote areas with poor economics background good education. It has established Del Polytechnic of Informatics and Del Unggul Senior High School in Laguboti, North Sumatera and NOAH school in Kalisari, East Jakarta. Apart from actively engaging in education, Del Foundation has developed collaborations with local governments, social institutions in Indonesia to improve its service and extend itself to any other strategic service. 

Del Polytechnic of Informatics was established in 2001 to provide internationally high quality education for potential students, especially those from North Sumatera whose economics background are poor. Apart from taking a role as the initiator that move developments in Tapanuli,  

Del Institute of Technology was established in 2013, when Del Polytechnics of Informatics (PI Del) was transformed into IT Del. IT Del desires to incubate new technopreneurs in information technology.

STEM Centre in the Del Institute of Technology (UPT PP-EASTEM) 

Institut Technologi DEL (ITD) has established the STEM Centre, the inauguration procedure of which has taken place on June 18, 2020. 

STEM centre in IT Del (In IT Del named UPT PP-ESTEM (Unit Pelayanan Teknis Pusat Pembelajaran Elektronik dan Sains, Teknologi, Enjinering, dan Matematika)) was introduced at the Faculty Meeting of IT Del on 18 June 2020.

UPT PP EASTEM is part of the unit of Academic and Student Affairs as shown in the following chart: 

The Training Division is responsible for internal and external training activities carried out by UPT PP-EASTEM. This team is under the coordination of the Head of UPT PP-ESTEM in planning training, with instructors recruited according to the training field.

The Research Division will work under the coordination of the Head of UPT PP-ESTEM and in collaboration with the centre for research and community work of IT Del. 

The Partnership Division is responsible for establishing of cooperation carried out by UPT PP-ESTEM. This team collaborates with the centre for research and community work of IT Del.

IT DEL STEM Centre Vision

  • To become a hub & platform for improving education, research and linkage to industry in an integrated environment of Science, Engineering, Technology, Art, and Mathematics. 
  • To be a vehicle to the employability of graduates. 

Mission 

  • To promote Student Centered Learning STEM education. 
  • To stimulate pedagogical innovation in STEM education. 
  • To train future mentors of STEM education (faculty members, K-12 teachers)

To foster inter and cross disciplinary cooperation within the university, with industry, STEM regional partners and K-12 schools.

Main aims/objectives and target groups of the STEM Center

  • to improve study programs quality through integrated style of study (integrated education module) and to modernize/renew the curricula of studies programs by including innovative learning and teaching tools, methods which will be implemented in center, 
  • to engage K-12 students with STEM disciplines and to allow students more deeply get acquainted with different STEM disciplines integrity, 
  • to strengthen the link between academic environment (university) and work life, to develop competences needed for the job market;  
  • to develop the university and K-12 students’ and teachers’ soft skills;  
  • To create the network – partnership between university-industry-school 
  • To promote Student Centered Learning STEM education. 
  • To stimulate pedagogical innovation in STEM education. 
  • To train future mentors of STEM education (faculty members, K-12 teachers)
