Getting to Vilnius

Vilnius airport (www.vno.lt) is the largest airport in Lithuania, situated just 15 min by car or public transport from the city center. Participants can also choose Kaunas airport (www.kaunas-airport.lt) as an option to reach the country as it takes only 1-1,5 hour to drive to Vilnius center.

It is easy enough to reach the city centre from Vilnius airport:

By bus: there are two express buses (1G, 3G) to the city centre and a bus (88) to the Old Town. There’s a public transportation stop conveniently located outside the airport’s arrival hall. It takes only 15-20 min to reach Old Town and city center. Download the Trafi app for a timetable. Tickets can be bought on the bus or via m.Ticket app.

By train: there’s a dedicated train that runs between the airport and the Main Railway Station. A train stop, stairs and passenger lift are installed right outside the airport’s passenger terminal. This is a very quick way to reach the city centre – the ride only takes 8 min and costs 1 Eur. The Vilnius Railway Station is located a short distance from the Old Town and can be reached on foot. Click here for a timetable and online tickets.

By taxi: there’s a Vilnius Aiport approved taxi stand right outside the arrivals hall. These taxis accept credit cards. It takes only 10-15 min to reach the Old Town and city center, the cots is ~20-35 Eur. Before using taxi services, please make sure you are boarding a vehicle from Vilnius Airport’s official taxi rank. Official taxi cabs have information signs regarding tariffs inside the vehicles. By calling a taxi though, you can expect a bit better price rate. Dial +370 626 66667.

Uber or Bolt: download an app and order a car online.

Getting around Vilnius

Public Transport

It is made up of bus, express bus and trolleybus lines. The extensive network of public transport connects each of the city’s districts and is easy to navigate. Timetables are available at every stop. The Vilnius Citizens Card is an electronic ticketing system used throughout the city’s public transport network. City guests are recommended to use the public transport journey-planning app TRAFI. The app combines all transport options in real times and lets users compare prices and timing with just a few clicks.

Shared mobility

Vilnius is both vibrant and laid back, and its relatively compact size makes visiting it a pleasure. It’s certainly a walkable city, and often there is no need to use public transportation to get around. Bike, car and scooter sharing systems are great for getting around the city, and both services are popular with locals and city guests: Dropbyke, Cyclocity, Citybee, Bolt, Spark.

Taxi

For those that prefer the convenience of a cab, Vilnius has a lot of dependable and reasonably priced taxi options available. From a conventional taxi company to the global giant Uber or more local Bolt and E-taxi. It is your choice. So call a cab (+370 626 66667) or order a car via app.
