WPFiE POSTER 01On March 19th at 17.30 in Vilnius University, the hall place, Room 239, Universiteto str. 3, Vilnius will take place the guest lecture “Women‘s Political Freedom in Europe” by prof. dr. Corinna Kroeber (University of Greifswald).

In democracies, the people have the right to choose who governs – they are free. Even more, democratic states guarantee equal political rights for all citizens to participate in politics. Prof. dr. Kroeber, however, underlines that in reality the chances to exercise this freedom are unevenly distributed within the population. For this reason, the lecture will give a broad overview about women’s role in politics in the member states of the European Union.

Prof. dr. Kroeber is a junior professor at the University of Greifswald, focusing on the representation of women, citizens of immigrant origin and ethnic minorities. The effects of electoral systems on different facets of representation are particular interest for her research. Ms. Kroeber is also the co-editor of the academic blog “Counting Counts” since 2015.

The event is organized in cooperation with the Vilnius University and the Mecklenburg-West Pomerania University Information Office.

Lecture will be in English. Participation is free.
