New bachelor study program 'Sustainability and future societies'

sustainabilityFaculty of Philosophy is preparing to launch a new English language bachelor study program 'Sustainability and future societies' in 2025.

The programme aims to train social sustainability and social change practitioners who will be able to analyse the challenges of societal and demographic change, propose data-driven and practical solutions, and create social innovations. Will be able to understand and apply the concepts of social sustainability by identifying, defining, and critically assessing the problems of societal development and demographic change and proposing strategic solutions. Will know and understand the foundations of other disciplines relevant to social sustainability (new technologies, social work and innovation, sociology, criminology, psychology, etc.), and will be able to systematically relate this knowledge to complex problems and societal changes. Will be capable of planning, organizing, and conducting research focusing on societal development (collecting quantitative and qualitative data, performing analysis of collected data and other available sources), applying various statistical analysis and interpretive methods while adhering to ethical and legal requirements for conducting social research. Will be able to explain, evaluate, and anticipate local and global future societal social processes, assessing trends in demographics, migration, public policy, and other relevant changes, while initiating practical solutions for sustainable development. Will be able to empower communities to address complex challenges and create, and introduce social innovations by applying principles of networking and partnership.
