Masterclass task & emotion - working with conscious and unconscious organisational dynamics - Vilnius University meets Utrecht University.
On November 23 at 5:30 pm we invite you to dive into some theory and practice of learning about (unconscious) organizational dynamics, from a Group Relations tradition and systems-psychodynamic perspective. This offers in-depth starting points for understanding what happens in the inner world of organizations and provides tools to work with it more effectively. By taking 'living practice' as an entrance, we can gain access to 'the unthought known', to less conscious dynamics that take place in and between people in organizations. In this online masterclass we will explore this and discover how attention to the implicit, mental world can be a source of 'organizational intelligence'. We will focus on how task & emotion are connected and how the acknowledgment of that can be applied in action research and consultation for organisational development.
For this event we invited Martha Mens M MPC and Martijn van der Spek M BSc to tell about their work. Together they form the core staff of Utrecht Universities executive program Inside Dynamics in Organisations and both are having extensive experience in applying theory into practice via their roles as organisational consultants.

Martijn van der Spek, M. General Social Sciences and BSc. Health Psychology. He is dedicated to the application of systems-psychodynamic perspectives, including Group Relations methodology, for the development of people and organisations. He works as an assistant professor, senior organisational consultant, coach and is programme leader of the post academic executive programme Inside Dynamics in Organisations, Theory and practice of working with hidden processes in organisations (professional partnership with Tavistock Institute of Human Relations) at Utrecht University School of Governance. He is an associate consultant of Tavistock Consulting and a member of the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations (ISPSO). Martijn experienced the transitional space that a Group Relations conference provides, in various roles in many places.
Martha Mens, M Clinical Psychologist and Master Psychodynamic Counselling. She is very passionate in making the group relations perspective more accessible and applicable within the daily practice of organisational life and is a past Chair of Group Relations Netherlands. She works as a senior consultant located within the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations for several other departments. She also works as co-program developer, supervisor and consultant in the Post academic executive program Inside Dynamics in Organisations at the Utrecht University School of Governance. Martha has an extensive international staff experience in Group Relations conferences.
